Leading and Managing Change
Friday, July 17, 2009
8 a.m. – noon
Penton Media Building
Conference Center (Main Lobby)
1300 East 9th Street
Cleveland, OH 44114
Most nonprofit leaders today are faced with making organizational changes, whether it is to sharpen the focus on fulfilling the mission, or simply to survive the economic downturn. The relative success of the changes depends on a variety of factors. An understanding of how to navigate through the changes can contribute to a successful outcome. Nonprofit leaders need to know both how to lead a change effort, as well as how to manage through it.
In this hands-on session, participants will learn the distinction between leading and managing an organization change initiative, and will apply the concepts to planning initiatives in their own organizations.
Each participant is encouraged to attend the session with a particular initiative in mind, and to attend with other leaders from the organization. Whether the anticipated changes will stem from pursuit of a new opportunity or from the need to make organizational improvements, the techniques discussed and applied during the session will help the participant create a plan for the change.

To Kill a Mockingbird has been described as funny, wise, compelling, and heartbreaking. It is a classic that all should see. Based on Harper Lee’s Pulitzer Prize winning book of the same name, To Kill a Mockingbird takes the audience to the Depression-era South and in to the lives of the Finch family: Atticus, Jem and Scout. Told through the eyes of Scout, Jem and Scout and their friend Dill enjoy the summers reenacting Dracula and trying to get a peek at the neighbor that leaves them gifts in a tree, Boo Radley. When their father, Atticus, is appointed to defend Tom Robertson, a young black man falsely accused of raping a white woman, Scout and Jem are faced with an ugly side of their town and the honorable side of their father.
For more information on To Kill a Mockingbird call (440) 949-5200. The play is directed by Rick Fortney. French Creek Nature Center is located at 4530 Colorado Ave in Sheffield Village.
