08/02/2008 - Church of St. Peter Parish Festival
City: Lorain

Starts   3:00 PM
Ends   11:00 PM

The festival will open on Friday, Aug. 1 with rides for the kids and children’s

games, featuring some new and exciting ones, plus the traditional, cabbage and

noodles, pierogies, roast beef sandwiches, Italian sausage sandwiches

and much more. The food booths will be open throughout the festival.

On Saturday, Aug. 2, the traditional Spaghetti Dinner will be served in the

school gym, and on Sunday, Aug. 3, the tantalizing aroma of roasted chicken and

corn will fill the air. An important part of the festival also will occur on Sunday,

when the outdoor Mass will be celebrated in the pavilion at 12 noon,

weather permitting. This Mass has grown into a wonderful event each year.

The Grand Prize drawing this year is a chance to win either a 2008 Ford Taurus

or $15,000 cash. This is the second year a cash alternative is being offered, thanks

in part to Mike Bass Ford. Tickets are the same price as last year: $1 each, or six

for $5. The car will be raffled off on Sunday at 8 p.m. Tickets are available at the Parish

Center, and will be sold at the festival the entire weekend. Again this year, there will be a

drawing for a 37-inch flat screen LCD HDTV, an iPod Nano and other prizes. This

drawing is especially attractive to the younger people of the parish, as well as all the

audiophiles out there. This drawing will also take place on Sunday. If you would like to

help with the festival, call Ed Klimczak at 282-9411. Volunteers are always needed and

appreciated. People are needed to help cook, sell food in the kitchen, and to help

set up and clean up before and after the festival.

Entertainment will be provided by Al Battistelli, Ed Klimczak and others during

the weekend.

This is a great time to see old friends and meet some new ones.

See you there!

08/02/2008 - The Butler Dit It, Singing!
City: Oberlin

Starts   8:00 PM

The MAD* Factory Players' Production of The Butler Did It, Singing!

Book by Tim Kelly
Music by Arne Christiansen
Lyrics by Ole Kittleson
Produced by special arrangement with Baker's Plays

This is a delightful, audience pleasing, musical spoof based on Mr. Kelly's enormously popular hit The Butler Did It. Miss Maple, a flaky society dowager, invites a pack of zany detective writers to a spooky house on an isolated island and forces them to impersonate their fictional sleuths. For entertainment, she arranges some "classic" touches — a hairy face at the window, the threat of an escaped lunatic, no communications with the outside world. What she did not arrange was the body on the sitting room carpet! It's up to seedy Chandler Marlowe to solve the bizarre case and he makes a side-splitting mess of it!
