Start off this new program with a morning hike to collect your miles!  Strenuous hike.

Take a challenge and become a part of the new 50-mile Club.  This hiking program starts July 1 and goes through March 31.  Any hike led by a metro parks staff member qualifies you for your miles, which are recorded in 1/2 mile increments.  Get your card at any of the hikes, and have the leader maker your miles at the end of the hike.  You will receive a special reward for 50 miles, and if you are really hiking inclined, do 100 miles and collect a different reward!  Also for real challengers, a special recognition will be given for the super hiker - the one with the most miles collected over 100.  All cards must be turned in by April 15, 2010 to qualify.
