 Witness the magic of nature as winter turns into spring by learning about one of the season’s sweetest treats, maple sugar, as the Lorain County Metro Parks presents Maple Sugaring at the Carlisle Visitor Center running for three consecutive weekends beginning February 27.
From Noon to 4 p.m. on February 27, 28 March 6, 7, 13 and 14, visitors can discover the secrets of maple sugaring by taking a crash course on the processes indoors, hiking to the sugar bush and collecting sap with a Naturalist, and visiting the Sugar Shack to see the sap being converted into syrup. Train rides through a second sugar bush may also be available, weather permitting. All of these family-friendly events are free!

Before experiencing the history and science of maple sugaring, taste some maple sugar on a hearty stack of pancakes at one of our all you can eat pancake breakfasts from 9 am - 2 pm on February 28. Organized by Friends of the Metro Parks, this event costs $6 per adult and $3.50 per child aged 2-10 years at the door; children under 2 eat free!
