Child Rapists too good for the death penalty?

I read in the paper today that the Supreme Court ruled that someone convicted of raping a child is not eligible for the death penalty. The only time the death penalty is possible is when there is a death involved or it is a crime against the state. I think that this decision is absolutely outrageous. The government thinks that the death penalty is acceptable when someone is found guilty of treason but brutally rape your 4 year old daughter and you deserve to live. In my opinion, a person who rapes a defenseless child should die before a gangbanger who shot another gangbanger over turf wars or something. The hoodlum should be the one in prison until he dies. I wanna she the rapist get his life taken from him. I think that someone who lacks enough compassion, morals, and conscience to destroy a child like that doesn't deserve to live. The Supreme Court should really rethink that one.

Agreed. I'd even take it a step further. You suggest allowing the "gangbangers" to rot their life away in prison. Why? We would have to pay for that. And, I also think that's cruel and unusual punishment. Which, is specifically outlawed in the Constitution. I suggest capital punishment for the gang-bangers too. It's cheaper, efficient and protects us that don't commit terrible crimes.

I think that capital punishment should be practiced in the United States but I also think that there is a fine line between use and abuse. I know that it is more expensive to keep people in jail for 30, 40 years but I don't think that we should start knocking people out to save a few bucks. Sometimes I think people deserve to rot in jail too.

Jail or prison time is no more than a vacation for criminals. There is no redemption for amoral people. Prison time and jail time is really nothing but a school for criminals to hone their skills. The idea that doing time is rehabilitating criminals is false. Only people who want to change are willing to learn to change their ways. Doing time for a crime is punishment deemed fit by society for people who break societys laws. Lawless persons see nothing wrong with their actions so breaking the laws of society is their consequence but not their fear. They don't even fear being caught but know they have a chance of getting away with their actions so they choose to continue until they are caught. To bad the Death Penality is NOT a deterant to the animals in society that prey on and kill other human beings but it is NOT. As far as the sexual deviants are concerned they act on compultions that only they know and understand. Society can only punish them as the law of the land allows, an eye for an eye so to speak. Rape, incest and sex with children is deplorable as our society's laws see it but our law makers have not decided to mandate the death penality in these cases so prision time is the only penality they can receive.
