Addiction to a drug may be either psychological or physical. People get addicted to smoking due to their physical need of nicotine. Once the body gets used to the drug, it tries to keep the level of nicotine in the body constant. This leads to a continuous need to smoke and induce nicotine in the body. But addiction to other drugs like marijuana is more of a psychological addiction. The body doesn’t ask for more drugs. Instead it is the mind that craves to feel high using the drug. Man subconsciously craves to smoke weed.

The Ways to stop smoking (http://www.medquit.com) is more or less similar for quitting smoking and stopping marijuana. It is important to distract oneself. One must start believing that smoking weed or cigarette is not important to remain happy. One can face life without these drugs. The more one thinks about smoking, the more becomes the urge to smoke. The art of meditation can help one to distract oneself and concentrate on the realities of life. Finding a rewarding hobby is also a great way to keep one’s mind off smoking. Taking up hobbies gives a feeling of satisfaction and also helps one to vent out their built up emotions. Exercising is yet another way to vent out one’s frustration and energy.

It is necessary to have a goal in one’s mind. Having an aim in life helps one to take the hits better along ones way. Helping someone is the best way to feel better and achieve a sense of satisfaction. It is necessary to make a commitment to oneself and stick to it. It is ones willpower that does it all.

Everybody is different when it comes to their ability to quit smoking. I was able to quit cold turkey, and haven't smoked in over two years. My grandmother was on oxygen due to smoking, and she continued to smoke until she passed away 5 year's ago. It is very important that you find a way to quit smoking because it is the best thing for your health and family.
