Sometimes I get annoyed with the lack of positive activity in Lorain.
Today I am thinking maybe we should rename Broadway Avenue in Lorain...

I was trying to think of a name that fit the type of businesses and the crowds that frequent downtown Lorain.

I was thinking...

Barway (because of all the bars)
Disbarredway (because of all the lawyers)
Barrenway (because it's a vacant and inactive)
Fraudway (because of all the bondsmen)

I will keep working on this. I figure rather than improve downtown, maybe it would be easier to just rename it.

I have lived, worked, and supported Lorain my whole life. I am an optimist, but a realist. People have to recognize the problem before they can propose effective solutions. I am making people aware of the problems I see. Now, let's talk about some solutions.

broadway should be named to reflect Mayor Foltins tenure with the city. I Believe ,,,,the foltins follie roadway is appropiate.

I'm partial to broadway... if the road was actually broad... like elyria's main street *shudders at any sense of envy of elyria*

You have to ask if another name would really make it better. We should not get trapped into competing by matching other cities. What is it that we have that you can't find in Elyria or Vermillion or even Amherst? What is unique to us? Is it business, the people, or atmosphere? Is there something we all could flaunt and promote? Is it a combination of things that make us stand out? What makes us a community?

Fixing our problems isn't easy. Should we concentrate on putting out fires or band the use of fire? Treating symptoms can be a resource waster, we need to see what are the sources and replace them with something positive.

Following our leadership sometimes can result in our ceasing to function and waiting for them to act. They may not be interested, too busy or have different priorities and agendas. We Lorain citizens need to engage in on going conversations like this forum to talk about all the stuff and invite our leaders to see what we are talking about. The "community as think tank" approach is perhaps more productive that the hired gunslinger approach. Politicians are good at negotiating solutions but not necessarily at providing solutions themselves. They are supposed to be serving us, we should be providing them with possibilities, what we are willing to live with. We need to talk among ourselves.

How about instead of Renaming Broadway, we hire American Demolition, line up all of their bulldozers at city hall, and let them drive south till they get to Rt. 2. Let them take down every single building they go past and leave nothing behind.
Then give the land to Veard and let him rebuild it correctly.
The only way to fix it is rebuild it.
