Amherst Beaver Creek Reservation Amherst

Amherst Beaver Creek ReservationThis park features 65 acres of mature woodlands and floodplains, a 1.2 mile paved loop-trail and day-use area with reservable shelter, playground, soccer field and visitor's center. Whether you're looking for a place to have a picnic, let the kids run free or just want to walk the paved trail from creek bed to pine grove, come and check us out! For one of the smallest of the metro parks, this reservation has a surprising variety of both natural habitats and activities.

Black River Reservation Elyria

Entrance to Bur OakWith almost half a million visitors each year, this may well be the most popular park in the Lorain County Metro Park system. The most notable feature is the Bridgeway Trail- 3-1/2 miles of paved all-purpose trail that follows the Black River through its meanderings from Elyria to Lorain, spanning four city jurisdictions altogether. The reservation also features three separate picnic areas: High Meadows, Bur Oak and Day's Dam, each contributing its own special character to the variety and natural beauty of this impressive park.

Caley Reservation Lagrange

Remains of a silo at the Caley ReservationCaley is a semi-developed park reserved for wildlife and nature study. Its 507 acres include wetlands, forest and field habitats including two large ponds and Wellington Creek which runs roughly through the middle of the reservation. Two popular activities include wildflower hikes and fishing, but visitors are welcome just to come and enjoy the quiet and natural beauty of this unique park.

Carlisle Reservation Lagrange

Carlisle Reservation Duck Pond EntranceCarlisle is the largest of the Lorain County Metro Parks, encompassing 1820 acres when included with Forest Hills Golf Course which lies at the northeastern end. Carlisle also offers a large variety of events and activities throughout the year, and is home to the administrative offices for the entire park system. From Holiday Lights to horseback riding to stargazing, Carlisle Reservation is a place you'll want to get to know better.

Columbia Reservation North ridgeville

Columbia Reservation EntranceThis 409 acre reservation was opened in August of 2003. As a wetland reservation, Columbia hosts a number of created ponds built around waterways near the west branch of the Rocky River. With miles of trails, a playground, and a shelter, you can bring the whole family out for some fun!
